ºÚÁÏÍø is committed to continuous improvement in its data governance practices. Our organization aims to foster a culture of data-driven decision-making. Data governance training is essential for organizations to manage their data effectively, ensuring it is accurate, secure, and used responsibly.

ºÚÁÏÍø Data Literacy Program

Data Literacy Training has arrived at ºÚÁÏÍø for staff and faculty!  The training can be accessed in the HR Cardinal Nest on the LUConnect page, using LEA Account credentials. For any login difficulties, reaching out to the HR department is advised. 

Training sessions have been assigned to support ºÚÁÏÍø’s campus-wide data governance goals.

Employees are encouraged to complete the courses as part of a structured pathway that strengthens ºÚÁÏÍø’s data culture.

Data Governance Foundations – Level 1

Level 1 includes the following courses, available in the HR Training Nest:

• Texas DIR: Introduction to Data Literacy

• Texas DIR: Data Security

• Texas DIR: Data Privacy

Each course completion will result in an Anthology Milestone Badge recognizing progress in responsible data practices. Employees who also attend the Data Governance Summer 2025 Series 1, either in person or by viewing the recorded session, will earn the ºÚÁÏÍø Data Governance Summer 2025 Series 1 Anthology Milestone Badge.

When all three badges and the Summer 2025 Series 1 badge have been earned, employees will receive the Data Governance Foundations Level 1 completion badge.

Texas DIR: Data Security		Earners must complete the Texas DIR: Data Security in HR Cardinal Nest.
Texas DIR: Data Privacy		Earners must complete the Texas DIR: Data Privacy in HR Cardinal Nest.
Data Governance Summer 2025 Series 1 Participant		Earners must attend the in-person session or watch the recorded Data Governance at ºÚÁÏÍø Summer 2025 Series 1 session. This badge is available exclusively to ºÚÁÏÍø staff and faculty. The video content for this badge will be reviewed each year and updated as needed.
Data Governance Foundations Level 1		Earners must have demonstrated a foundational understanding and been awarded the badges in the following four  core areas: Data Privacy, Data Security, Data Literacy and Data Governance.
Data Governance Foundations Level 2 Level 2 includes the following courses, available at LU Connect: Texas DIR: Data Quality Texas DIR: Data Ethics Texas DIR: Data Sharing Best Practices Each course completion will result in an Anthology Milestone Badge recognizing progress in responsible data practices.  This level continues to expand the university’s training efforts and further supports Lamar’s data governance initiatives.
